What Is It?
WHERE: Pa Rang Cafe and Art Stay
WHEN: Opening and Events: 19 November
Exhibition available for viewing: 19-21 November
CONTEXT: Localised response to COP31

Micro Galleries and Pa Rang have combined forces to coordinate and curate a three-day climate awareness experience alongside the international climate conference taking place in in Turkey (COP31).

Pa Rang's outdoor grounds become a microcosm of the earth - a landscape you walk through, biome by biome, tracing a local X global journey through climate disruption, mitigation, and imagined solutions.

Each biome carries its own kind of pressure, purpose, beauty and innovative solutions. Together, they hold the interconnection between them: what happens in one system is never separate from the rest. We are all interconnected and inter-dependent, and together, we can create interconnected solutions.

Forests, rivers, oceans, grasslands, deserts and polar regions are connected through shared climate, water, biodiversity and atmospheric systems, meaning disruption in one place can trigger consequences thousands of kilometres away.

Scientific research increasingly shows that lasting climate solutions require communities to share knowledge, experience and innovation across borders, because no ecosystem, and no community, can thrive alone.

The Program
For anyone interested in arts, environment, and community hubs.

ARTIST CALLOUT
Asia-Pacific Artists Responding to Local Climate Disruption

Artists Imagining A Better World
APPLICATIONS OPEN SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER

Micro Galleries and Pa Rang have combined forces to coordinate and curate a three-day climate disruption experience alongside the international climate conference taking place in in Turkey (COP31).

Pa Rang's outdoor grounds become a microcosm of the earth - a landscape you walk through, biome by biome, tracing a local-to-global journey through climate disruption, mitigation, and imagined solutions. Each biome carries its own kind of pressure, purpose, beauty and innovative solutions. Together, they hold the interconnection between them: what happens in one system is never separate from the rest. We are all interconnected, and together, we can create interconnected solutions.

We're looking for artists who would be interested in helping create this experience at Pa Rang through any creative means - photography, multimedia, sculpture, installation, sound, video, scent, light, or anything that turns an idea into something felt.

This exhibition takes shape alongside the international climate conference, COP31 in Turkey, as a counter-current transforming the abstractions of a global summit back down into the textures, smells and sounds of one specific place, in a way that is relevant to Chiang Mai, and Asia-Pacific. Asia-Pacific creative voices deserve amplification on the global conversation about climate, where they are feeling it first, and foremost. local knowledge and local voices aren't peripheral to that global conversation. They're essential to it.

What We're Looking For:
- Chiang Mai–based artists plus artists from across Thailand and the wider Asia–Pacific region
- Any medium - visual art, sound, installation, performance, video, sensory/olfactory work
- Around 6–12 works will be selected across the six biomes, roughly one anchor work per biome
- Artists interesting in exploring the tension between local urgency and global frameworks
- Artists responding or contributing to one of the six biomes – this can be an abstract or lateral-thinking alignment.

This Could Be Right For You If:
- You have existing work that fits the concept and a biome
- You want to test new work in new spaces with new audience
- You want to experiment with a new element of your practice
- You would like to be involved in a new initiative with international connections and opportunities in the future
- You like cool good and want to hang out with them

The Six Biomes:
1. Forest. e.g burning season, smoke haze, regrowth
2. Grassland: e.g drought, grazing, open horizons, burning, livelihood
3. Desert: e.g heat, scarcity, resilience, sand, sparsity
4. Tundra: e.g melting ice, arctic thaw, downstream floods
5. Freshwater: e.g Mekong flows, Ping River, rainfall, drying wells, floods, microplastics
6. Marine: e.g Andaman tides, rising seas ,bleaching coral, rising sea levels, extensive river systems, micro plastics

What is Provided To Successful Artists:
Transportation of works, catering for any onsite setup and pack up, professional documentation package including photography and video, first opt-in for future iterations that receive funding

Submission Deadline: 5pm (GMT+7), 18 October
